micro production

This is where the fun stuff happens. We work with other local businesses to create beautiful bespoke products from natural or up-cycled materials. Our experienced practitioners can take projects from design to production, or can pick up and develop on existing patterns and prototypes. We are proud not to have any MOQ (minimum order quantity), if you have an idea, or need a textile product made that doesn’t cost the earth, get in touch.

Troubadour Theatre - costumes for ‘The Selfish Shellfish by David Wood’

We’ve had such fun working on this wonderful project and it stands true to the very core of what we stand for; creating beautiful garments from waste textiles for Troubadour Theatre

On this journey we’ve been really fortunate to have ammassed all sorts of textiles, from coffee sacks from our favourite local cafe, to industrial palette strapping, a torn pair of suit trousers, to some old bed sheets and very retro orange velvet curtains. This project has meant that we can rip up the rule books and re-visit the creative processes of having no ‘commercial’ constraints, which would ordinarily render these materials as useless.

“It was of the utmost importance to us that our costumes were made from previously worn or repurposed materials and as soon as I met Cat and experienced her enthusiasm and passion I knew Mend Assembly would be the right people to make our costumes. It has been an absolute joy to work with Cat and Abby and the Mend Assembly team - they have consulted with us all the way and their attention to detail, inspiring ideas and infectious enthusiasm for their work has been an absolute joy.”

“Working with the Mend Assembly team has been fantastic and they worked tirelessly to help us realise our first product. Having worked with the founders on other projects in previous roles, we knew we wanted to support Mend Assembly and that we would be in safe hands.

It was a great project to work together on and their problem solving and attention to detail is second to none.

I would highly recommend working with this highly creative and talented studio.”
